Hi,

OBJECTIVE: To add a free item in cart via auto apply coupon

ISSUE: The plugin starts firing notice that the product can no longer be purchased if the free product’s price field is empty.

Its normal that a free item does not have any price as its not for sale.

Actually this is a known issue. This was a limitation of WC, but I will take a look if there is a solution for it yet. This will not be on short notice.

You can hide the free item from the store by setting visibility to hidden.

Using this feature entirely turned out to be a blunder.

I set prices to 0 for free items and visibility as private.

On an average I receive 20 orders per hour.

I set a free gift via coupon at night 3.00 am and slept. Woke up at 11am to see there were 0 new orders and 50 complains in customer care due to checkout error.

Maybe you should not have a feature thats broken in the plugin or at leakest explicitly notify people of the issue.

I incurred a loss of at least $5000 in sales + reputation loss due to this.

If a product is private, it is not available for the customer.

If you configure a coupon, at least test it. This is a user error, not a broken feature.
