    when the user adds things to their cart, the coupon is not applied, AND if they manually add the coupon they get:

    Sorry, it seems the coupon “40golduserlevel” is not yours.

    Why would this happen…????

    At 1:19 you can see that the role of the user is ‘Subscriber’, not ‘Gold’. You would probably need some custom PHP to achieve what you want.
