Free childs meal with every adult meal

I’m trying to make an auto coupon that discounts 1 child meal for each adult meal

Not every adult will come with a child so the Free products feature doesn’t work.

I have tried the snippet posted here

but that discounts all child meals with only 1 adult meal. it should be 1 adult meal = 1 free child’s meal.
so 2 adults and 3 children should be 2 free meals, not 3.

any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately this is not that easy. I think the best bet is creating a custom ‘Limit discount to:’-rule with the wjecf_get_limit_to_options filter. In this filter count the number of adult meals, and then limit the number of child meals accordingly.
