suddenly “select free gift” function stopped working AND

AND when you try to do it, it causes site Error.

We have been loving the Select Free Gift option, and on 4-20-24 began a major new promotion with it.

Then sometime on 5/17/24, it stopped working, and/or actually causes a 500 Error or “server can’t handle request” message.

We have made no plug-in or other updates to the site in the 5-16-24 to 5/17/24 timeframe.

Needless to say this is really messing up our major new promotion, because not only can customers NOT add the free gift item(s) to their cart, but they also can’t check out at all. The website will not longer allow them to even check-out once this happens.

Any ideas about this? We are mystified and in great distress.

Hi, I would need the PHP exception to be able to investigate this. Please enable WP_DEBUG_LOG (see https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/debug/debug-wordpress/ ) and send me the debug.log.

We solved the problem by adding a separate Free Gift plug-in and using that instead of a Soft 79 coupon to deliver the “choose your free gift” offer in the cart.

Disaster averted.
